The MCU Slate Shifts (Again)
What many have been dreading has happened. Instead of doing a hybrid theater/streaming release for Black Widow like they did for Mulan, Disney has delayed the movie to 2021 and as a result the MCU slate has shifted yet again. This also could explain why The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was officially delayed to 2021 when the WandaVision trailer was released. There are rumored to be some thunderous things setup in Black Widow that bolt on into the events Falcon.
This is what the MCU 2021 release schedule looks like now in terms of movies:
- Black Widow moves to May 7, 2021.
- Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings moves to July 9, 2021.
- Eternals moves to November 5, 2021.
The side effect of all of this is that we might see Loki after WandaVision and before Black Widow/Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The series, which was originally set for an “early 2021” release has recently resumed filming and could possibly land somewhere in the February through April window before Black Widow hits theaters.
