Marvel’s Captain Marvel Prelude Shows What Fury and Hill Were Up To Following Civil War

Today Marvel released the first issue of their Captain Marvel Prelude comic, which promises to tell a story that leads to an encounter with Captain Marvel.

The story centers around Nick Fury and Maria Hill, showing what they were doing from the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, through Captain America: Civil War, and finally the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War. Prior to the dusting, Fury and Hill tried to reunite the Avengers. Nick went and intercepted Cap and his team doing their Secret Avengers thing in Syria, and Steve seemed willing to patch things up with Tony. Meanwhile Maria goes and talks to Tony while he’s perfecting his nano-tech Mark L suit.

There really isn’t much Captain Marvel in this first issue of the Prelude (the second issue will likely feature her after the movie is revealed). There’s this scene following the events of Civil War that hints at the relationship between Fury and Carol Danvers:

It’s pretty obvious that Captain Marvel was the ace that Nick Fury was keeping in his pocket, just in case she was really needed. We’ll have to wait for the movie to see exactly what that all means.
