First Details on the Marvel Attractions Coming to Disney California Adventure
Disney previously announced a Marvel expansion for Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, and construction is already underway. They’ve closed the “A Bug’s Land” area in the park and walled it off as work has begun on the new expansion that will open in 2020, and now the first details on the Marvel attractions in the area have leaked out.
According to WDW News Today, there will be a Spider-Man ride where the “It’s Tough to Be A Bug” 3D movie previously was:
The ride appears to be mostly screen-based (likely 3D in nature), so think Toy Story Midway Mania, but with guests shooting webs instead of darts, balls, and rings. The entrance to the building will be rerouted to the opposite side of so it can be accessed from the hub of this new land.
There will also be an elaborate Doctor Strange meet and greet similar to what the Cruise Line has now.
The big “E-Ticket” ride is a Phase 2 attraction, but according to the site it will be a huge Avengers roller coaster:
“The Quinjet is located in front of the Phase 2 offering (not flying like in the poster), a truly massive Avengers E-Ticket attraction that is expected to be a roller coaster. As for story elements or anything beyond that, details are scarce at this point. All we know is that it is HUGE in scale.”
There will obviously be shops and restaurants there, such as an Ant-Man microbrewery.
All of this is anchored by the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout Tower that’s already running in the park, making a pretty decent “Marvel Land” in the California theme park starting in 2020.
