Zack Snyder is directing Superman

Well, there’s finally a director for the new Superman movie due Christmas 2012 and it’s likely to split fanboys right down the middle. Zack Snyder, director of the Dawn of the Dead remake, 300, Watchmen, Legend of the Guardians, and the upcoming Sucker Punch will be rebooting the Man of Steel. The Hollywood Reporter was one of many sites to confirm the news today.

Their article does confirm that the villain in the movie will be non-other than General Zod. However, it’s doubtful that anyone can come close to matching Terence Stamp’s classic performance in Superman and Superman II. He was such a perfect match for Zod that it’s hard to picture anyone else in the role. They made Jeff Bridges young in Tron Legacy, so maybe they could do the same thing with Zod?

How he didn’t win a Best Actor Oscar for that is unbelievable.
