WB Opening a Batman Restaurant Named After Where the Waynes Were Killed

Next year, if you live in London, you’ll be able to eat in a Batman-themed restaurant named after the upscale area of Gotham City where the Waynes were murdered.

Forbes has all of the details on Park Row, which will have five different eateries and set you back about $58 to eat there. You’ll be able to choose from places themed after Alfred, Harley Quinn, and the Penguin; each one with a different type of food served.

They also launched an Instagram account:

There’s no word on any kind of dinner entertainment, but if Park Row decides to offer such a thing I’m sure it’ll be killer.

Is Scott Snyder Beginning His Goodbye to ‘Batman’?

One of the bigger rumors from this week about the future of DC is starting to sound true, as Scott Snyder made an ominous tweet regarding Batman.

A new #1 relaunch doesn’t bother me too much, but having Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo leave Batman does make me sad. Their collaboration has been an absolute highlight of not just the DC Comics lineup, but all of weekly comics as a whole. Batman was a book I, and many others, eagerly looked forward to buying every month.

At the same time, 50 issues on one book is an incredible run and the duo’s time on Batman will go down in history as one of the greatest times that the Caped Crusader has ever experienced in comics.

Rumor: Solo Batman Movie to Feature Red Hood as the Villain!

Even though it’s a ways away, there’s a rumor that says the villain Batman will face in his next solo outing will be none-other than Red Hood.

The rumor comes from JoBlo via a video (below) and they have had a good track record recently with DC scoops. The video explains that DC wants Red Hood to be their answer to Winter Solider, and there are definitely some parallels there. He’s also a very popular character in the comics since his resurrection in 2005, and he was a big focus of Batman Arkham Knight (which is probably the best Arkham game).

The video does a very good job explaining the history of Jason Todd to those unfamiliar with Death in the Family from 1988, and we know that in the DCCU Batman does have a dead Robin as we see his costume in the trailer. Exploring the Jason Todd storyline would be a great way to kick off the solo Batman movies, especially if Nightwing is included as the rumor says. That gives the DC movies a rich history to pull from, which is something that makes the comics so great.

So if this is true it makes me even more excited for the solo Batman movie. I’ve always wanted to see the “Bat-Family” represented on the big screen as they are in the comics, and this is the first step to that. Imagine a future solo Batman movie where he’s teamed up with Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin.

The DC Cinematic Universe is Becoming the Batman Cinematic Universe

Everyone knows how popular Batman is, and now it looks like Warner Brothers is going to make him the center of the DC Cinematic Universe.

This week JoBlo revealed a whole bunch of cool stuff about the 2017 Wonder Woman movie. For instance, the movie is actually a prequel to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice with the modern day stuff being set about eight months before the big team-movie that hits theaters in March. They also talk about the plot of the movie, which involves both Circe and Ares and does go back to the World War I setting where Wonder Woman first fought the god of war.

We will see the invisible jet in the movie, but even more surprising is that there will be a Batman cameo at one point. He’ll watch Wonder Woman saving some civilians and then meet up with her and apparently set up the relationship between them that already exists in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

That would make Wonder Woman the fourth movie (so far) in the DC Cinematic Universe to feature Batman in some way:

The DC Cinematic Universe so far:

  • Man of Steel – No Batman cameo, but Wayne Enterprises is referenced.
  • Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – Big Batman focus.
  • Suicide Squad – Big Batman cameo
  • Wonder Woman – Batman cameo

This is a similar tactic Warner Brothers’ gaming division does with the LEGO games they license. Even though the last DC LEGO title was basically a DC Universe title featuring every character in their roster, they still named it “LEGO Batman 3”. Even the LEGO toys that are released slap a Batman minifig in every single set even if it’s not a Batman central set. Green Lantern vs Sinestro? Sure, but be sure to put Batman in it!

Even though it’s only four movies in, it looks like the DC Cinematic Universe is taking the LEGO approach by making it a Batman Cinematic Universe. I’m not opposed to anything that helps it succeed, as I prefer DC’s comic universe to Marvel’s by far, but this is almost feels a little desperate if they’re going to slap Batman in every movie they’re doing.

DC Will Begin to Credit Bill Finger on Batman TV Shows and Movies

For years Batman fans have known about how Bill Finger created key elements of the mythos, and now DC will begin crediting him in select releases.

It doesn’t sound like the creator of The Joker and other important parts of Batman will be credited on the comics just yet (he was on the Detective #27 re-issue last year), but according to a statement DC released to THR he will receive credit on both Gotham and Batman V Superman:

“DC Entertainment and the family of Bill Finger are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement that recognizes Mr. Finger’s significant contributions to the Batman family of characters. “Bill Finger was instrumental in developing many of the key creative elements that enrich the Batman universe, and we look forward to building on our acknowledgement of his significant role in DC Comics’ history,” stated Diane Nelson, President of DC Entertainment. “As part of our acknowledgement of those contributions,” Nelson continued, “we are pleased to confirm today that Bill Finger will be receiving credit in the Warner Bros. television series Gotham beginning later this season, and in the forthcoming motion picture Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.””

Hopefully it won’t take long for this to extend to the comics, where Bob Kane had received sole credit since 1939.

Mark Hamill Hopes to Voice The Joker for The Killing Joke

Mark Hamill’s version of The Joker is considered by many to be the definitive clown prince of crime, and now he hopes to voice the character in The Killing Joke.

Someone sent a Tweet to Hamill expressing their hopes that he’d be cast as The Joker in next year’s animated adaptation of the Alan Moore classic, and Hamill responded that he also has his fingers crossed:

Back in 2011 when Batman: Arkham City was released it was reported that Hamill would be retiring his Joker voice, but he would return if they ever did an adaptation of The Killing Joke. That reported retirement didn’t seem to last however as Hamill voiced The Joker in the excellent Batman: Arkham Knight. Hopefully DC realizes how much The Killing Joke would benefit from having the best Joker in it and gives Hamill a call.

Arkham Knight Receiving a 1989 Batman Skin Pack

Batman: Arkham Knight is already the best Batman game ever made, and new 1989 Batman skin pack is about to make it even better.

Coming in August for Season Pass owners, the 1989 Batman pack will include the Tim Burton-inspired suit and the Batmobile. It’ll also include two Batmobile tracks based on Batman Returns and the snowy Gotham setting.

They also announced a Bat-family skin pack that will include the Blue and Gray Batman, Black and Gray, Arkham Origins Batman, 90’s Catwoman, One Year Later Robin, and Arkham Knight Nightwing.

These announcements follow the Batgirl DLC pack which hits today for Season Pass owners and will be available later for everyone else.

Batman Spotted on the Suicide Squad Set!

For a long time there have been rumors of some kind of Bruce Wayne or Batman appearance in the Suicide Squad movie. They’ve ranged from simply being surveillance video of Batman to a more meaty appearance. With the movie filming in Toronto now, Ben Affleck has been spotted in the city (along with the Batmobile) fueling the rumors that he appears in the movie in some way.

Today came confirmation. Paparazzi snapped photos of Affleck on the street in Tronoto where they’re filming outdoor scenes, and they were very careful to hide his costume. It’s pretty obvious he’s in the Batman suit as the black sheet doesn’t hide the cowl ears very well, and you can clearly see the gray leg of the suit sticking out of one of the shots.

There are also rumors that he was there to film a flashback scene for Batman V Superman that will show The Joker killing Jason Todd. As this stuff is a street scene, it’s more likely something for Suicide Squad as opposed to that “Death in the Family” flashback.

You can head on over to ETalk to check out the paparazzi photos of Affleck hiding under a black sheet to hide the Batman costume.

See How LEGO Batman Stole Last Night’s Oscar Ceremony

While the LEGO Movie was snubbed from a Best Animated Film Oscar nomination, it did earn one for Original Song. Alas, that award went to the song Glory from Selma, but that didn’t stop the LEGO Movie’s performance from almost stealing the show.

If you missed the ceremony last night, ABC has posted the full performance, which you can see below. The highlight is Will Arnett showing up in full Batman gear to sign Batman’s single line from his awesome song in the movie. Check it out:
