US Agent Confirmed to Use the Captain America Title in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

When US Agent’s costume was revealed in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, many suspected that he’d become the government’s new Captain America. That happened in the comics, and it looks like the series will be following that comic introduction.

The Mini Mates toys for the series have been found by an Instagram collector at Wallgreens, and the US Agent figure is just named “Captain America”. This seems to confirm the suspicion that the series will be taking inspiration from Captain America #333 where the government strips Steve Rogers of his Cap title and gives it to John Walker. In the MCU as Sam went against the Sokovia Accords, he’s seen as a criminal the government can’t control, so they likely took the shield from him and gave it to Walker.

As we’ve seen from the set videos, things with Walker don’t seem to go as the government expected and he becomes a pretty vicious Captain America. That means Sam will probably end up with the title by the end of the series…

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Will Bring Back Early MCU Characters

While The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will reunite characters from the Captain America trilogy, as well as introduce new members of the MCU, it sounds like we’re going to see even more appearances from the earliest days of the MCU in the series.

In the Script Apart podcast (via Empire) writer Derek Kolstad teased:

“What I will say is that there are characters from the earliest Marvel movies that are coming back,” Kolstad said. “We’re layering them in and reinventing them in a way that’s gonna shift the storytelling structure. It’s fucking awesome.”

Many are speculating that he could be referring to villains such as The Leader, Abomination, or Justin Hammer as The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is a big part of setting up the MCU’s Thunderbolts.

Sony Addresses the Tobey & Andrew Spider-Man 3 Rumors

Over the last week or so, the internet was set aflame from a rumor that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield had “officially” signed on to star in Spider-Man 3 alongside Tom Holland. As rumors that people desperately want to be true tend to do, the rumor spread to every website that wanted some quick clicks. But now comes a somewhat official word from Sony on the rumor.

ET Canada asked a Sony rep about it and they said:

“Those rumoured castings are not confirmed”

Now to be fair, that’s what any rep will say when a website or magazine picks up the phone to try to confirm something. People always like to use reps to debunk rumors, because 99.9% of the time the rep will debunk every internet rumor if the studio hasn’t announced it yet. So of course that means it’ll be unconfirmed until the studio decides to announce it, but as of right now that’s the official word.

At the same time, fans might be overhyping themselves expecting them to show up as Spider-Men in the movie. Marvel does want the “Legacy” actors from the Sony and Fox eras to pop up in the MCU; although in different roles. That means that if Tobey and Andrew were to show up in Spider-Man 3, they might be playing very different roles. A cameo for Tobey as Uncle Ben in a flashback or Andrew as a villain, for example.

Bo-Katan Will Reportedly Co-Star in the Cara Dune Spin-Off Series

Earlier this morning a report surfaced that Cara Dune is up for a Disney+ spin-off series, but now there’s more information about that series and it’ll co-star another popular Clone Wars character who will debut in live-action in The Mandalorian Season 2.

According to Kessel Run Transmissions, Katie Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan will be the co-star of this Cara Dune series. In their video (below) they talk about how they heard about the series about four months ago, before the real-life controversy surrounding Cara Dune. Despite what’s happened since then, they’re hearing that the Bo-Katan/Cara Dune series is still going on. They say they believe it’ll be green-lit depending on the reception of Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian Season 2.

You can watch Kessel Run Transmissions talking about this third spin-off series from The Mandalorian below:

Cara Dune Rumored to Be Up For Her Own Disney+ Series

Disney+ is going to be the future of Star Wars, at least for the next few years, and Lucasfilm is going to be ramping up with the live action series very quickly. The Mandalorian Season 2 is said to start setting up some of these new shows, with the inclusion of characters like Ahsoka, but now a new rumor says one of the Mando characters might be spun off.

According to LRM Online, Cara Dune is one of the characters in consideration for a solo series. I can back up their report as I heard about a month or two ago that such a series came under consideration during the filming of The Mandalorian Season 2 after Gina Carano and one of the new cast members really hit it off. Discussions then began about the possibility of spinning Cara Dune off into her own show.

Cara Dune certainly has a lot of potential for a solo series. She was a Rebellion Shock Trooper and survivor of Alderaan, so there’s a lot of cool possibilities there for flashbacks to the Galactic Civil War. Of all of the characters in The Mandalorian, she makes the most sense to spin off into a solo series.

Rumor: Miles Morales is Headed to the MCU

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve been hearing some pretty interesting things come to light about Spider-Man 3 prior to the start of filming. We learned that Jamie Foxx would return as Electro, and Benedict Cumberbatch will be appearing as Doctor Strange. There are also a lot of other crazy rumors flying around out there, but today is one that is really cool if it turns out to be true.

I have a source who’s reliably told me some things on the DC side of the fence, most recently about the Peacemaker series back in July, and they told me in the past week that Sony and Marvel have already found their live-action Miles Morales. I have no idea who it could be, or even if it’s for Spider-Man 3, but that would make the most sense for his debut.

We know Miles exists in the MCU. In Spider-Man: Homecoming Donald Glover played Aaron Davis and mentions his nephew to Spider-Man. There’s even a deleted scene where he calls Miles on the phone. As Spider-Man: Homecoming is long before the Blip, it’s always possible that Miles wasn’t dusted and he grew up in those five years to be closer to Peter’s age by the time of Spider-Man 3.

The timing is also perfect. Miles has already had a hugely successful animated film, but now he’s the star of Sony’s flagship PlayStation 5 launch title in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The time is right for Miles to make his live-action debut, and with him being referenced in Homecoming; showing up in the third movie does make a lot of sense. That’s why I’m really crossing my figures that this rumor ends up true.

The Disney+ Investors Day is December 10th

Disney+ has just become the focus of the Walt Disney Company, and to discuss that and give people a preview of what’s to come; Disney will hold an Investors Day on December 10th. Bob Chapek announced an upcoming Investors Day during the 3Q earnings call in August, and while a false date did surface recently, this December 10th date is official from Disney themselves.

The news came from The Wrap as Bob Chapek announced a massive restructuring of the Walt Disney Company to put streaming at the center of everything they do.

Prior to the launch of Disney+, the company held an Investors Day in April of 2019. That’s when Kevin Feige officially confirmed WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki. We will most likely hear MCU series updates at this next Investors Day, possibly including release dates for Loki and Falcon.

Benedict Cumberbatch Will Appear as Doctor Strange in Spider-Man 3!

For everyone doubting that Spider-Man 3 will be dipping its feet into the multiverse after last week’s Jamie Foxx news, here’s a huge clue that the movie will have ties to the Doctor Strange sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will be appearing in Spider-Man 3 as Doctor Strange, and the role will be a mentor one similar to Tony Stark’s previous role with Peter Parker.

Rumors say that whatever Wanda does in WandaVision will cause chaos with the multiverse, setting up a shockwave across the MCU that will affect future movies. As Spider-Man 3 is releasing between WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness it makes sense that Spidey will be dealing with the aftershock of whatever Wanda does, and then having Stephen Strange show up would be a good way to lead into the Doctor Strange sequel.

Natalie Portman Confirms ‘Love and Thunder’ Will Use Jane Foster’s Story From The Comics

When Thor: Love and Thunder was revealed at SDCC last year, comic fans immediately began to wonder if the movie would tell the cancer side of the Jane Foster story. In the comics, Jane was dying as cancer when she became Thor and the twist was every time she turned into Thor it nullified any of the cancer treatment she’s gone through. Now we have confirmation that the cancer story will apparently make its way into the MCU version of Jane Foster’s story.

Natalie Portman made the revelation in an interview with Yahoo:

I can’t tell you that much. I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is. I’m trying to think — it’s based on the graphic novel of the Mighty Thor. She’s going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side.

Of course fans are now wildly speculating about how Jane got the cancer, with some wondering if it could’ve been caused with having an Infinity Stone inside her during Thor: The Dark World.

Spider-Man 3 Apparently Begins Filming Next Week!

While we’re waiting on signs that the next wave of Disney+ Marvel Studios shows begin production, a few of the movies are close to the start of filming. Last week we heard that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness could begin at the end of the month or early next, there are signs that Thor: Love and Thunder will start soon in Australia, but Spider-Man 3 may begin before any of those.

Signs have gone up around Queens saying that Serenity Now will begin filming there next Friday, October 16th:

Spider-Man 3 shooting next week in New York from r/SUMC

Serenity Now is the filming title for Spider-Man 3, as all movies in this MCU trilogy have used Seinfeld references to disguise what was really being filmed.
