This week, word emerged that Henry Cavill was “in talks” to return as Superman via two separate Hollywood trades. Now a third trade has chimed in with more details about what’s really going on, and it’s “complicated”.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision newsletter, “Cavill is not in any negotiations for any cameo”, and “the character is currently not in any written script. Not in Black Adam, not The Batman, not even in The Flash“.
However they go on to say that there is interest in bringing back Cavill as Superman and there are “exploratory” talks about how that could happen.
So this all seems to be very, very, early in the process. However, Cavill did post on social media this morning that he’s back in the gym, rumors are claiming that Black Adam could begin filming as early as late August, and both Cavill and The Rock have the same reps; so the stars could be aligning for Superman to face off against Black Adam, who will already be dealing with the Justice Society in his solo movie that releases in December of 2021.
