It’s now March, which means we’re just two months away from the release of the first movie in Phase 4, Black Widow. As it always happens with Marvel movies, people want to know when the final trailer will arrive and when they’ll be able to buy tickets. Thankfully, after twenty-three movies and one being released every May since 2008; there’s a pattern to these things that we can look at.
Ever since Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, the May MCU film saw their final trailer arrive sometime in March. These are the past dates:
- Avengers: Age of Ultron – March 4, 2015
- Captain America: Civil War – March 10, 2016
- Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 – March 1, 2017
- Avengers: Infinity War – March 16, 2018
- Avengers: Endgame – March 14, 2019
Disney also likes to have those trailers play in theaters with one of their movies, if possible. So the release of an upcoming Disney movie could also give us a clue as to when we’ll see the Black Widow trailer. While some are speculating it could be with Pixar’s Onward this coming week, it’s more likely we’ll see something more kid-related with that.
On the other hand, Disney is releasing the PG-13 Mulan at the end of the month. It’d make a lot of sense if the Black Widow trailer were to be released online sometime around the 20th, and then it could play in theaters with Mulan at the end of the month. Note to Reddit: I’m not saying that’s when it’s coming, just the timing sort of works out for something like that to happen.
As for advanced tickets, those do usually go on sale along with the release of the final trailer and poster, so this month looks to be a big one for those waiting for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to begin.
